Your CPA journey / Professional connections
What is a
CPA society?
A state CPA society is a professional membership association that connects people in accounting through education, advocacy, career resources and a professional community.
You may be able to join while you are still a student or preparing for the CPA exam. The right membership depends on your stage, your budget and the benefits you will actually use.

Meet people in the profession
Look for student events, local gatherings and opportunities to talk with accounting professionals. Choose a society whose activities you can realistically attend.
Explore your next career step
Check for career resources, internship information and scholarship opportunities. Availability and eligibility vary, so start with the society's student or candidate resources.
Use benefits with a purpose
Member education and course offers can be useful. Decide what you need first, then compare the membership cost with the benefits you expect to use.
A society supports its professional community. A state board of accountancy licenses and regulates CPAs. Joining a society does not grant a CPA license or establish your exam eligibility. Find your official board through NASBA.

Make the membership decision
A benefit is useful
when you use it.
Before you pay dues, work through these four checks. You can use them with any society, whether or not it partners with Kesler.
Society dues + joining fees + the member course price
Compare that total with the course price you could actually pay without joining, including any other available offer.
A course saving may happen once. Membership dues can renew each year. Add value for other benefits only if you expect to use them.
Confirm your category
Ask whether you qualify as a student, graduate, candidate or another member type. Do not assume the student rate applies to every exam candidate.
Check the full membership cost
Find the dues period, renewal date and any joining fees. Ask whether your employer or school already provides membership.
Choose a benefit you will use
Pick a concrete next step: attend an event, explore an internship resource or check an eligible course offer. A long benefits list is only useful if it fits your needs.
Confirm access before buying
Ask which benefits your category includes and how to redeem them. Society membership and course enrollment are separate purchases; check the course's own terms too.
